Is there a Monopoly in the Real estate industry?

I hear many buyers and sellers who think there is a monopoly in real estate. Is it true?

This is an issue that has been in the industry for many years and now gets more attention. Yes, I personally think there is a monopoly in our industry. NAR is a monopoly in my opinion. They failed to protect our future selling Realtor.com to Move inc for money. Don't they have enough money from our membership fees?

I was a real estate agent in the late 70s. I can say that nothing really changed. From a printed MLS listings to online is the only thing that really changed. I don't know about a monopoly but, the way we buy and sell houses have not changed much. So, maybe there is a monopoly.

There is a Monopoly in real estate. But this Monopoly will be lost in 5-10 years. The internet will take over this industry.

I think that there is a monopoly in this industry. As long as there will be a need for a real estate agent the monopoly will continue.
