Technology or a real Estate Agent

New technologies should empower real estate agents to bring much more value to the transaction and not to eliminate them.

We are living in one of the most exciting times in the history of mankind. Trillions of dollars are spent on making the world technologically smarter but very little is spent on getting humans ready for that future. Technology vs. Humanity is a wakeup call to take part in the most important conversation humanity may ever have. Will real estate agents /brokers blindly outsource and abdicate big chunks of their business to the global technology companies, or will they take back their autonomy and demand a sustainable balance between technology and humanity. The real estate industry is huge and it is changing in front of our eyes. Buying and selling real estate is complicated than many think or even know. There are so many variables in the real estate market that algorithm knows nothing about such as predicting property price value. An actual human who is actively engaged in a community, knows the things that no algorithm does. The consumers nowadays are much more knowledgeable. They do online research, know what they’re looking for. The data supplied online is only the starting point in a long-complicated process. Knowing what you want isn't always the reality and a real estate agent job is to put things in perspective. While technology is disrupting numerous industries the idea of making a massive, infrequent, and consequential purchase such as buying real estate without the help of a trained experienced agent, is scary. Technology will continue to provide more access to information, but this information is not enough to give confidence to the consumer to complete a purchase online without using a real estate agent. Real estate is local. It isn't going to change unless we find a way to move land. Then, we look at the Internet and its global reach. How do these two factors influence each other, and how can we make them work together for success? There are many websites out there who offer to the consumer a lot of data and new technologies to replace the agent, but the question is, are consumers ready for deciding to purchase real estate based on online data and technologies? the answer is confusing.

Which Side Are You on?

The main question here, can it happen in real estate where a computer will do the entire transaction online from A-Z without using a real estate agent? When computers fail, we see just how dependent we have become on them. There are many examples to that. That sounds very scary if we stop for a moment and think on it. But can we be stronger and to refuse dealing with computers to protect humanity? We should never take out the human touch from the purchase/sale transaction. With all due respect to new technologies, people are created from souls. A computer algorithm has no feelings or color. It doesn't have a real face. People are driven based on their many feelings. An algorithm is driven by cold data. Some will say that algorithm is objective and has no interest as people do. People creating algorithms but it comes to a point that those algorithms are taking control on our minds. They are influencing our decisions and our daily life. We will get to a point that we will stop thinking and let a computer to think for us. Those computers will replace us and all we will got left with is to obey them. Is that what we want? Do we have any control on that? Can we control those computers from controlling us? There is only one answer to this question. People were given the right to choose and by that we have our freedom. If you choose to deal with a machine, you must know and take in consideration that a machine has no responsibility and you cannot complain and you must deal with the consequences. While dealing with an agent who has responsibilities, you can complain and try to avoid dealing with the consequences.

Predicting the Future

Predicting the future is a risky business. If it wasn’t, we’d all be very wealthy by now. Many people predict that computers algorithms will come to run our lives and in many fields of our lives they already do. For example, if you made a deposit at your bank and the bank`s computers are down, your checking balance will not show your deposit. In November 2009, the entire air traffic control system of the United States crashed, causing chaos to travelers. The cause? The failure of a single router board. And there are many more examples. Can we live without a computer? Can we stop here and take over? Many will say that in this way we will go backwards and not forward. We can quit smoking, drinking doing drugs. But can we quit from using a computer? It is all a matter of getting used to our habits. There are many people in this world who do not know how to use a computer. Do they have a less good of life than those who addicted to a computer? The answer to this question relies on the individual.
